MCSD 8th Grade Career Fair
An annual event, usually held in the Spring, for all MCSD 8th graders to explore careers. Each year, the 8th Grade Career Fair rotates between Columbine, Centennial, Olathe and Peak. The event is a half-day and features local professionals from all career clusters; students rotate through three different careers. The purpose of this event is to provide career and college awareness to 8th grade students.
Target Audience: All MCSD 8th graders
Date: March 17, 2022 (During SAT Practice half day)
Community Partner: Variety of local businesses
MCSD College Fair
An annual event, usually held locally in the Fall, for juniors and seniors to explore Colorado colleges and universities as well as visit with recruiters. There are also various virtual college fairs that we promote.
Target Audience: All MCSD Juniors/Seniors

MEDC Manufacturer’s Expo & MCSD STEMposium
An annual event, usually held in October, that the Montrose Economic Development Corporation and Montrose County School District collaborate to host local manufacturers, small businesses related to manufacturing, and secondary MCSD STEM programs. All MCSD secondary schools participate, bringing select groups of students to help demonstrate their STEM learning and problem-solving skills. The purpose of the event is to expose our students to local manufacturing and STEM careers, demonstrate our students skills to local employers, and allow for students and industry professionals to network.
Target Audience: 6th grade students are invited to visit and explore the Manufacturer’s Expo & MCSD STEMposium to explore the secondary STEM programs available to them while also exploring the local STEM careers that those STEM programs prepare them for. In addition, select groups of seniors will be invited to attend starting in 2022 to explore job opportunities.

Building Futures Career Day & Montrose WorkForce Center Hiring Fair
A new annual event which will be held every Spring. The Future Builders Construction Trade Fair allows students to experience a hands-on workshop of the construction trades and to meet professionals from many fields; each booth gives students the opportunity to put on their hard hat and build something! Running concurrently, the WorkForce Center’s Summer Hiring Fair will feature booths from local employers looking to hire our students in a wide range of career fields.
Target Audience: MCSD 10th graders and seniors
Date: April 10, 2024
Senior Financial Reality Fair
An annual event held in the Spring that allows seniors to learn by doing as students spend the day in a simulation of real life, choosing an occupation and where to live, buying a home and paying bills, and navigating daily living scenarios while planning for retirement.
Target Audience: All MCSD Seniors
Date: April 13, 2022 (During SAT Testing)
