Capstones are a culminating exhibition of student's project, performance, experience and/or collection of best work that demonstrate academic and intellectual learning. They are highly individualized and student-selected. Check with your counselor to see if a Project-based Capstone is available at your high school.
The PWR Project-based Capstone allows each student the opportunity to demonstrate his/her 21st -Century skills through completion of a project, showcased in a three-part process. Essential components include:
● A physical product or service resulting from chosen fieldwork along with proof of progression and completion
● A qualitative research product and a written reflection of the entire project
● An oral presentation accompanied by a portfolio, which synthesizes the first two components and is presented before a panel of judges
Students should talk to their school counselor to inquire if this option is available at their school.
See the Montrose High School PWR Project-based Capstone website for an example.
